After many years of careful driving my dear wife had her first accident with our car. She called me and I arrived at the scene and we exchanged insurance information and answered some questions. After an exhausting experience we finally arrived at home and called our insurance company. The voice at the other end of the line was so assuring to my wife. They walked her through the whole process of getting our car repaired and continually asked her how she was feeling. They were most concerned with her well-being and constantly offered words of encouragement. Our insurance company uses the phrase: “You’re in good hands…” We learned through that experience that it was more than a slogan.
Have ever thought of the times that the Bible tells us that our lives are in God’s hands? God has stretched out the heavens with His hands (Isa. 45:12). He has made us and fashioned us with His hands (Ps. 119:73). He guided His children by the skillfulness of His hands (Ps. 78:72). In a storm Peter had the faith to walk on the water towards Jesus but took his eyes off the Lord and began to sink. Jesus stretched out His hand and rescued Peter. We are also told that the Lord Jesus asked Thomas to touch His nail-pierced hands to assure himself that He had indeed risen from the dead. Our Lord comforts us with the wonderful words found in John 10:28,29: “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand”.
We are fashioned by His hands, we are guided by His hands, we are comforted by His hands, and we are saved by His nail-pierced hands. There are even times when we are lovingly disciplined by those hands. I am so glad that at any time I can boldly make my claim to my Lord. Because I am in good hands with Jesus.
