Have you ever noticed the role angels play in the Christmas story?  After 400 years of silence with no revelation from God, the Almighty lights up the world with the presence of His holy angels.  He sent an angel to Zacharias the father of John the Baptist to announce the birth of the forerunner of Messiah.  He sent the angel Gabriel to Mary to let her know a miracle was about to happen.  She would give birth to the Son of God, even though she was a virgin.  Another angel was sent to Joseph to calm his fears and let him know that God was in control.  And then God dispatched a multitude of angels to the earth to give the message of the birth of His Son to a group of shepherds on the hillside.

The silence of our lives can be broken by listening to the message of the angels.  This poem is taken from the angel’s message to the shepherds.

I Never Heard an Angel Sing

I never heard an angel sing

Those heavenly beings in God’s employ

But on the day of Jesus’ birth

They sang a song of joy

I never heard an angel sing

But their melodies never cease,

For on the day of Jesus birth

They sang a song of peace.

I never heard an angel sing

But imagine the great jubilation.

When on the day of Jesus’ birth

They sang a song of salvation.

I never heard an angel sing

But praise and honor and glory they bring

For on the day of Jesus’ birth

They sang a song for their King.

Even though you may have never heard an angel sing God has a message for you during this Christmas season.  Your Savior has come.
