The world is full of weapons of mass destruction.  Various armies boast in their military capabilities.  Some countries even have parades displaying tanks, missiles, and marching armies. With the advent of the nuclear age, weapons are much more fearsome. Recent advances in drone and electronic warfare technology add to the arsenal of military weapons.

The child of God is in a battle.  However, our enemy is not one of flesh and blood but the world, our own sinful flesh, and the Devil.  The Bible tells us in Eph. 6:10-12: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”.  These verses describe our spiritual war.  They also give us a strategy for victory.  The armor of God, listed for us in Ephesians 6 are what we use in our spiritual warfare.  We go into battle with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.  We are challenged to put on these weapons in our daily battle with the forces of evil.

What will be the outcome of this war?  Will we win or will we lose?  I am so thankful that the Bible promises ultimate victory for the child of God.  In 1 John 5:4,5 the apostle assures us: “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God”?

Those who have placed their faith in the Son of God are described as overcomers.  We are overcomers by faith in the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11).  Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
