Who Touched Me

Have you ever experienced the Disney crush?  It happened to me at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando.  The Disney crush is not a new ride at the park, but an experience that happens when the lines are long and the events are crowded.  The crowd was gathering along the route where the nightly parade was to be held.  Everyone was pressing closely in order to see the various characters on the floats.  I did get to see a little of the parade, but the mass of humanity was packed tightly around me.  Since then, I try to avoid the Disney crush.

A crowd was gathered around Jesus as he returned from doing several miracles in the region of Galilee.  As he walked along the route, so many people pressed in just to get close to Him.  Just as He began to engage in conversation with the ruler of the synagogue about his sick daughter someone reached through the mass of humanity and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment.  Jesus then said in Luke 8:45,46: “Who touched Me?" When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, "Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?' "But Jesus said, "Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me”.  A woman with a bleeding disorder reached through the crowd and was just able to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.  She believed that if she could just get close enough to reach her hand through the crowd and touch his garment she would be healed.  Her touch of faith caused her long 12-year ordeal to be relieved.  Jesus commended her for her faith, and she went on her way rejoicing in her miracle.

We are all bleeding.  We all have some problem that is causing us pain or confusion or anguish.  Jesus is the Great Physician.  He can heal, He can save, and He can relieve our deepest needs.  Draw near to Him.  Let your faith reach through the crushing crowds and touch Him.  His grace is available to all.  Just reach out and touch the hem of His garment.
