A Beautiful Inheritance

Updated: Apr 29, 2023

Rose Ann Bolasny of Queens New York was an extremely successful accountant and lives in a million-dollar home. When she passes away, she is leaving behind the home plus a six-figure trust fund. She has designated the massive inheritance to her Maltese named Bella Mia as reported in the New York Post. According to her Facebook page Bella regularly eats filet mignon and wears diamond-studded tiaras. Truly Bella is a lucky dog.

Family inheritance is described in the Bible, was very important. When Joshua conquered the land each tribe received their allotted territory which was to stay in the family. David wrote in Psalm 16:6 (HCSB) “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance”. I believe David was describing more than the portion of land that those boundary lines delineated for him. Perhaps he was thankful for the blessings that God had sent his way. The pleasant places and beautiful inheritance is his way of delighting in the life that God had designed for him.

Have you taken time to examine the boundary lines of blessing that God has surrounded you with? Have you praised Him lately for your pleasant places of your extended family, great friends and a loving spouse? Have you given Him thanks for your job and the career He has enabled you to have? How often do we acknowledge that the possessions we have accumulated are the providential gifts of God? Christ followers are recipients of an abundant life of blessing that can be termed our beautiful inheritance. But we also have an eternal inheritance in heaven. Heb. 9:15 (NLT) tells us: “That is why He is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them…”

You may not be like Bella the lucky dog who inherited unbelievable wealth. However our loving Heavenly Father loves to divide to each of His children our share of blessings in this life and an eternal inheritance in heaven.
