Road Warrior

A road warrior is anyone who spends a lot of time traveling for work.  They may be away from home for days and even weeks at a time.  They often make use of mobile technology to get their job done. Some examples of road warriors are over-the-road truckers, salesmen, business professionals, and even professional athletes.

We who know Jesus Christ as our Savior could also be called road warriors.  Jesus announced to the world in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth and the life…”.  The little word: “way” is a very descriptive term.  It means that Jesus is the only path to heaven.  He is the way to joy, peace, and fulfillment.  His way is narrow, His path is difficult, and His road is rugged.  Those who have accepted Him as their Savior are not only called believers, they are also called followers.  Jesus said so many times in the New Testament: “follow Me”.

Have you set your foot to the narrow road and began following Jesus?  He warns us in His Word that it is not an easy road.  Jesus said in Luke 9:23-25: “…If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost”?  Being on the road with Jesus may be a lonely road since there are few who choose it.  As road warriors we will be called to deny ourselves.  We may even endure persecution for our faith in Christ.

Road warriors follow their Savior closely.  After a long day of teaching, many who listened to Jesus went away and did not follow Him anymore.  Jesus asked His disciples if they too would go away.  Peter spoke up and said: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”.  Have you decided to be a road warrior, following Jesus?
